In short I just wondered if anyone has used some kind of service for this purpose before or is doing it within Drupal itself and has any recommendations as to where I should start looking. I thought about trying to do something with Amazon Cloud Search after seeing this post ( ) to make files searchable however I couldn't see a fast way of implementing a way for users to pick searched documents. My first thought was to bulk upload all of the documents into S3 but with such a large number of documents browsing through folder after folder isn't an ideal admin experience. I am well aware that Drupal has the ability to host these files internally so if there is some kind of a way to utilise this and keep the files clean I am open to a suggestion or best practice for ensuring this is separate. The idea is that these documents can be added to the nodes from another service. Preferably I am looking for one with an API so I can talk to it with a custom module in Drupal or even an existing module. I have had a brief look around for some kind of service that will do this for me. I am currently doing a little bit of research into a way of managing such a large number of documents. I'd like to refrain from importing users from the other system into Drupal wherever possible since having user accounts in multiple systems can cause a number of problems with synchronisation. My plan would be that this authentication is taken care of in some middleware that blocks a user from viewing it without providing login credentials. These attached files will also need to be able be behind a Paywall with external custom authentication behind them. These nodes also have the ability of allowing multiple documents to be attached to them. These will be new nodes with descriptions and titles.
